      1. All ballet Solo participants must select repertoire(s) from the above list.
      2. Choreographies should adhere to the original as closely as possible.
      3. Both participants competing in the Couples category will be judged individually, and must each submit their own registration.
      4. A participant who is competing in the Couples category may choose a non-participant as his/her partner. However, the participant may perform in the Couples category with his/her partner only up to the

  • Contemporary Dance

  • Ethinic Dance

    ※Participants may wear appropriate dress and make-up during preliminaries, Semi-Finals, and Finals.

    ∙ Selected classic dances should seek to ensure continued succession of their respective ethnic heritage across generations, and the compositions must follow this principle, while at the same time incorporate the meaning of the ‘Four Gracious Plants’.

    ∇ The Four Gracious Plants is a literary metaphor used to refer to the Apricot, the Orchid, the Chrysanthemum, and the Bamboo, which subtly compares the virtues of each of these plants to the character a gentle and a wise man ought to have.

    3. Rules of Engagement for Ethnic Dance Participants

      1. Ethnic dance participants must choose either the Traditional Ethnic Dance or the Creative Ethnic Dance category on their registration form.
      2. Creative Ethnic Dances must reflect characteristics of and clearly identify with its country/culture of origin.

Important Notice to All Participants

  1. The members of the Jury panel reserve the right to not choose a winner in each genre.
  2. The members of the Jury panel reserve the right to present Special Awards to those who are merited.
  3. In the case that two winners are named for an award, the person with the lower numerical ranking will not receive the award. ex) If there are two 1st place winners, 2nd place prize will be omitted and one of the two will receive the 3rd place prize.
